South Pasadena Art School

In 2002, the Chouinard foundation undertook the near-impossible task of renovating a 13,000 square foot facility in the Oldtown Mission West district of South Pasadena, in order to start an artschool. Not an attempt to “re-open” the original school, this was the effort to create an independent school and cultural facitlity where some of the main principles of the the original Chouinard (drawing, painting, design) were forwarded. many shows and events were held in the galleries and the school had a very successful run until 2006 when it was closed due to an inability to fund the purpose at the correct magnitude.
